Public Servant Charged

A special Court of Inquiry was held yesterday before Mr. H. A. Young, S.M., to take evidence concerning charges made against a junior officer of the Public Trust Office that during the Lyttelton by-election, campaign he was guilty of conduct that constituted a breach of regulation 32 of the Public Service Regulations by disturbing political meetings, and in particular a meeting addressed by the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates at Lyttelton on September IL. Counsel appeared for the Public Service Commissioner and the officer concerned. The inquiry was held in camera, and after a number of witnesses had given evidence the Magistrate intimated that he would forward his report to the Public Service Commissioner.
