CHILDREN’S HEALTH CAMP

More Annual Subscribers Mr. C. Meachen. secretary to the Children’s Health Camp Association, reports that the membership is growing steadily. There are now 63 adult subscribers, whieh includes the staffs of Picot Bros., Wright, Stephenson, Murray. Roberts and Co., Big Tree Department, A. S. Paterson, Messrs. McDuffs, head office, Harbour Board. Universal Films. Messrs. Woolworths, Wellington South Nursing Division, St. John Ambulance, members of the Wellington Fire Brigade, members of the Working Men’s Club, staff T. and W. Young, staff Moore, Wilson and Co., staff Construction Department, Harbour Board, staff Messrs. James Smith, staff Messsr. Hannah’s factory. The committee wishes to acknowledge with thanks a donation of £lO from the Mayor’s Distress Fund. Small collection boxes have been distributed on the counters of various business houses, and that at the Electric Light Department realised £l/0/6; Waitoa bookshop, Hataitai, 5/9; National Bank of New Zealand, Courtenay Place branch, 5/2; Kelvin Service Station, 4/-; King’s Service Station, 6/3; De Luxe Service Station, 1/5; Todd Motors, 1/2; Petrol Supplies. lOd. As a result of the theatre appeal a further cheque for the amount of £4/9/1 was handed to the association by Mr. J. Robertson, secretary N.Z. Motion Picture Exhibitors’ Association, and £3 from the Jolly Bridge Club members. About 25.000 envelopes have been forwarded to the various schools in the Wellington district for the purpose of the quarterly envelope appeal, but the result of this cannot be expected until early in January. The camp on December 21 will have in residence approximately 90 children for the Christmas period.
