ESPERANTO CLUB
Annual Meeting The annual meeting of the .Wellington Esperanto Club was held in the Y.M.C.A.. when Mr. B. Potts presided over a good attendance of members. The report and balance-sheet showed that the club was in a satisfactory position. ; The election of officers resulted:—President, Mr. V. Leek; vice-president, Miss Coralie Smythson; secretary, Miss G. Carty; treasurer, Mr. L. E. Dust; librarian, Mr.'G. Tait; ex-officio members of the committee, Messrs. G. Harkness and B. Potts. A discussion centred round the question of club programmes and methods of tuition. The work of the club teachers during the year wak highly eulogised, and valuable suggestions were made regarding tuition matters in general. The club library has been increased during the year by several dozen books, donations of members and friends, the stock comprising several works now out of print, as well as many modern novels, original and translated, philosophical, scientific and travel works. Mr. W. L. Edmanson was elected an honorary life member of the club as a mark of appreciation of his valued services to the Esperanto movement in Wellington during the past twenty years. It was decided to celebrate the birth of Esperanto with a special programme next week.
