TO MAKE A PROTEST

Referring to the provisions of the Education Amendment Bill, Mr. Wallace, chairman of the Otago Education Board, said it was proposed that no person receiving a retiring allowance from the teachers’ superannuation fund should 'be eligible for, appointment as a teacher in a public school. This, he said, was simply another nibble at the conscience and prerogatives of the Education Board. : He quoted cases where teachers retiring on superannuation were, continuing as relieving teachers. Iti was decided that the chairman should telegraph a protest to the Min-ister-of Education.
