LORRY-DRIVER FINED
Intoxication Admitted By Telegraph -Press Association Hawera, December 13. A Maori, Thompson Waijviri, aged 20, pleaded guilty to a charge of intoxication while in charge of a motorlorry, and was fined £2O by Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., to-day, and prohibited from holding a license for 12 months. It was revealed that Waiwiri had never held a license. He admitted having 15 handles of beer in a few hours at Manaia township prior to a collision with a stationary vehicle which, he contended, was due 'jo defective steering gear.
