SMASH-&-GRAB THIEF
Trays of Diamond Rings ' Stolen ' MELBOURNE ROBBERY (Received December 12, 10.15 p.m.) Melbourne, December 12. A thief to-day smashed a window in the premises of Hardy Brothers, jewellers, Collins Street, and snatched several trays of diamond rings worth thousands of pounds. He escaped by running through different buildings and lanes. However, he lost a number of valuable rings during his escape, some of which were returned to the owners.
