Boxing 1 Veteran’s Victory
DEFEATS PETERSEN (Received December 1, 7.30 p.m.) London, November 30. In the British heavyweight boxing championship Len Harvey outpointed Jack Petersen, the holder. Harvey, who is a veteran of nearly 400 fights, has not yet been knocked out, and has only been downed five times in liis career, including once in the first round of this fight. He was too experienced, the critics state, for Petersen. “The Times” says it was the greatest fight seen at the Albert Hall, and ended with both contestants fighting like madmen in the middle of the ring. A Newcastle ex-seaman, Watson, was disqualified In the second round for a low blow in a contest against Sonny Lee, of Leeds. No title was involved.
