PROSPEROUS YEAR
Karori Presbyterian Church
There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Karori Presbyterian Church on Thursday evening, when the Minister, Rev. Leonard H. Hunt, presided. The balance-sheet disclosed a prosperous year. The collections totalled an average for the year of a little over 10 guineas per week. During the year the sum of £l5O was paid off the church mortgage, aud another £l5O is available to defray part of the cost of the new classroom at the rear of the church. Owing to the prosperous state of the church it was recommended by the managers that the full amount of assistance from the centra] fund should not be accepted, but reduced by £22. The committee had been informed, and an appreciative letter was read from the Rev. G. Budd. The gross revenue from all sources was £863 5/5. Deep regret was expressed at the approaching departure for London of the church treasurer, Mr. A. McLachlan, who has been appointed to a position on
the staff’of the New Zealand Treasury. The Rev. L. H. Hunt expressed his appreciation of the very fine service rendered by "their worthy treasurer, and asked him to accept a gift of a travelling rug aud a pair of military brushes. Mr G. Littlejohn also spoke, and Mr. McLachlan feelingly replied, stating how much fie had enjoyed his work,. and what great pleasure it had given him. During the evening songs were sung by Miss Greig, Mrs. Johnstone, Mr. Comes, and two items were given by the choir. Supper was provided by the ladies of the church. Three managers whose terms had expired were re-elected, Messrs. McLeod, Curie and Marshall, and two new managers were elected, Messrs. Hopkirk and Hamilton.
