A statement was made in Suva recently that the Government proposed to send the Native Military Band to take part in the Melbourne Centenary Celebrations, and that the Hons. Ratu Sukuna and Ratu Pop! Seniloli (grandson of the late King Cakobau), M.L.C.’s. should accompany the bandsmen. Tbe following day inquiries at official headquarters brought the information that nothing had been decided, and so far no decision had been arrived at. It is, however, most likely that the trip will eventuate, and Australians will be privileged to hear a very fine musical combination, with a concertparty drafted from among the members of the band and also many fine dancers of mekes, including club and spear dances and the famous war dance. It has been decided, it is reported, that in the event of the trip, the party will not include the Benga firewalkers, who have made the modern Fijian native in ©any lands.
