SMITH FAMILY ACTIVITIES

A special children’s entertainment will be given at the De Luxe Theatre this morning in aid of the Smith Family Christmas Cheer Fund. Messrs. Kemball Theatres Ltd. have lent the theatre and Greater Australasian Films and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer have provided the films. The programme is one that should appeal to all children’s tastes. Children attending the Smith Family Christmas Party which will be held at the Town Hall on the afternoon of Saturday, December IG, are promised a wonderful time. There will be acrobats, clowns, conjurers, a ventriloquist, a Punch and Judy show, children’s ballets and many other entertainments. The children will be divided into groups: tiny tots, 4 to 8, 8 to 12, and 12 to 16 years of age. Prizes will be awarded for the most original costume, the best couple and the best group. A novel programme has been arranged for the Smith Family International Joy Night, which will be held at the Town Hall on Saturday, December 16. The first portion of the programme will consist of a two-hour joy jaunt round the world. Over 50 performers will take part in the production, which promises to be a riot of fun, action and colour. Between 10 p.m. and midnight the floor of the hall will be cleared for dancing.

Particulars of each of these entertainments are contained in the advertising columns.
