Better Wellington Market SHEEPSKINS STEADY Prices generally for both sheepskins and hides were slightly better at the fortnightly sale held jrslerday by the combined Wellington brokers. Competition for sheepskins was keen for sound pelted skins. Hallbreds and fine crossbreds appreciated dd. Other descriptions sold nt par, with the exception of lambs, which were easier. There were only a few salteds offering. Good supplies of hides were offered, the market showing a slight improvement on previous quotations. Cow, all weights, were 1-S<l, ox, all weights 1-8(1 to 3-8(1, kip and yearling Id to Id, and calf -}d to 3-8 d better than late rates. Only a small catalogue of tallow was offered, values being slightly easier. Feilding, December 1. There was a very good market for station cattle, of which there was a large entry, at the stock sale to-day. P.A. cattle especially were in demand, the entry generally being of good quality. Young stock are apparently in strong demand, the whole of the large entry being cleared under the hammer. The fat cattle market, on- the other hand, shows signs of weakness. The quality was not of the best and the sale showed some easing in prices. The dairy cattle market was quiet, with only a small entry. Fat sheep prices were slightly up on last week, with only a small offering, while store sheep also were in short supply, while the market showed n keen demand for breeding ewes, especially two-tooths. Prices were:— Sheep.—Fat sheep: Prime heavy hoggets, 22/-; good skins, 20/-; lighter, 17/3; prime heavy lambs, 20/9 to 21/-; prime heavy finished wethers, to 23/9; lighter, 20/-; prime quality ewes, all shorn, 15/8 to 16/6; good, from 11/2 to 13/10; light, unfinished, 9/1 up. Store sheep: Ewes, in good condition, 11/3; ewes and lambs, 32/-; two-tooth ewes, good quality, to 27/-; inferior condition, from 19/9; twotooth wethers, good. 14/6 to IG/1. Upper Hutt Sale At Upper Hutt, on Thursday, Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., offered a large yarding of sheep which had a spirited sale from a large number of buyers representative of Manawatu and Wairarapa. There was little competition tor cattle. M.a. woolly ewes, with 100 per cent. b.f. lambs at foot. 26/10, 28/6, 29/6, to 29/7; shorn "aged ewes, with b.f. lambs at foot, 23/5; m.a. dry ewes, woolly, 18/-.; woolly wether hoggets, 19/1; woolly ewe hoggets, 24/6: shorn 2-tooth ewes, 19/-; shorn 2-toofh wethers. 15/-; 4 and 6-tooth wethers. woolly, 25/4. Prices for sheep and cattle were about the same as last week at the Carterton sale to-day, but prices for pigs showed a decline, slips being considerably lower. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., sold a fair yarding at. the following prices:— Sheep: Fat lambs, to 18/-; two-tooth wethers, to 16/6; S.D. ewe, 16/-.
