NEW AERO CLUB

West Coast (5.1.) Federated AFFILIATION APPROVED The affiliation of the West Coast (5.1.) Federated Aero Club was approved at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Aero Club yesterday. Constituent clubs of the new organisation comprise the Westport, Greymouth, Ikavatua, Hokitika, and South IVestland Aero Clubs, and the area it is proposed to serve is: To the south — all of the Westland provincial district together with that part of the Grey county lying outside the Westland provincial district; to the north —the whole of the Buller and Inangahua counties, the Southern Alps to form the natural boundary on the east, and the Tasman Sea the boundary on the west. The chairman, Mr. G. M. Spence, said the West Coast people were to be heartily congratulated on the energy they had shown, and it augured well for tlie development of aviation on the West Coast. Perhaps he should make it clear that this would be the last federated club that would be formed. The policy of the Government was to limit tlie number of clubs to ten: originally it was eight, but for geographical reasons this extra club ”vas desirable. Now that New Zealand was completely covered, there was no possibility of the Defence Department recognising any further clubs.
