BOYCOTT OF GOODS
Move by American Labour DIRECTED AT GERMANY (Received October 15, 7 p.m.) Washington. October 13. The American Federation of Labour to-day declared a boycott against goods made in Germany and other countries whose Governments have opposed freedom to form trade unions. The boycott was approved with only one dissentient vote among, 600 delegates. It was originally planned, for Germany alone, but the boycott was extended to Italy, Russia and China when the resolutions committee reported that it was unwise to single out one Government. The committee’s report mentioned the “Government of Italy, with its Fascism, Russia with its Communism, and China with its chaos.” The resolution was clarified by the president. Mr. W. Green, who explained that while the adoption of a committee report was regarded as a condemnation of the labour policies of Russia, Italy, and China, the boycott itself will be directed effectively only against Germany.
