Cast on 101 stitches. Knit into back of stitches. Knit 1, purl 1, for S rows, then continue as follows: —•

Row 1: Knit 2, »wool, forward, knit 2 together, repeat from * to end of row, then knit one. Row 2: Purl.

Row 3: Knit 1, *wool forward, knit 2 together, repeat from * to. end of row, then knit 2. Row 4: Purl.

Repeat pattern rows until it measures 4i inches, then knit 1, purl 1, for seven rows.

Decrease by purling two stitches together to end of row. Work pattern again for about two inches, then repeat ribbing as before, again decreasing on eighth row.
