The Band Contest
Sir, —The news that the Woolston Band is going to the Melbourne Centenary celebrations next year as New Zealand champion band, and will, consequently, not participate in the championship contest at Wellington iu February, is of great interest. Whilst it will deprive the contest ot a first-class band, the general effect should . be. that “the hope that springs eternal” will blossom in many a bandsman's bosom. The Woolston Band has for years been regarded as practically unbeatable; but now that this musical T’har Lap is to run on another course, there is the greater cjiance of honour for other starters. —I am. etc., • FIUST EUPHONIUM. Wellington. October 13.
