SMITH FAMILY PLANS — i ... The Christmas effort of the Smith Family this year will be On similar lines to the highly successful effort last year. It is proposed to provide an entertainment and Christmas treat for all children of unemployed workers. Every child will receive a parcel from Father Christmas, and it will be the aim of the Family to see that no child in Wellington is neglected in any shape, or form this Christmas. As was the case last, year, Christmas hampers will be provided for families in need, and it is hoped this year to eclipse the record established last year. It is also hoped this year to arrange for people in the country to take a child for some portion of the school holidays. Every care will be taken in the selection of the children, and a clean bill of health will be given by the Family's doctors before any child is allocated to a family. The Smith Family will see that the children selected are well clad, and will arrange for their transport to the homes of those who may feel disposed to assist some deserving family in the city by relieving the parents from the maintemtnee of one of their children for a week or two.
