CITY COUNCIL
General Business
The Wellington City Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr. T. O. A. Hislop) presiding. Those present were: Crs. W. H. Bennett, W. J. Gaudin, L. McKenzie, W. Duncan, T. Forsyth. J. Burns, H. A. Huggins, F. M. Luckie, P. M. Butler, R. McKeen, R. Semple, C. H. Chapman, T. Brindle, and P. Fraser.
Improvements are to be effected to the lighting in Britomart Street and Lochiel Road, but no action is to be taken toward suggested improvements in the lighting at the intersection of Adelaide Road and Rlddlford Street, or in Te Anau Road.
A high level path at Mantell Street is to be extended subject to the owners contributing £8 as half the cost.
An area is to be set aside for the formation of a recreation reserve on the Cashmere Estate, near lianui Terrace, and the extension of Jubilee Road through the property is to be discontinued.
Tenders are to be called for the extension of the women’s rest room in Manners Street, on the site of the old market reserve.
A low-level roadway is to be constructed under the No. 5 relief works scheme at Messines Road, in lieu of s low-level footpath, subject to the dedication of the necessary land free of cost, and the payment of the costs entailed in providing the improved access.
The milk department was authorised to call for tenders for tho supply of 400 gross of pint milk bottles, and 150 gross of quart size.'
The lease of the boat shed to the Worser Bay Boating Club was renewed for a period of three years.
