Combined Golf Clubs
The Wellington minor golf clubs held their annual combined ball at the Mayfair Cabaret last evening and, ns usual, there was a large attendance. The evening was another pleasant demonstration of the good fellowship existing among the clubs, and was in every way an unqualified success. The Mary Al ward Cup. won this year by the Manor Park Ladies’ Club, was presented by the donor, Mr. R. 8. Alward, to Miss Fairbrother, of the winning club. Mr. P. C. Watt, donor of the cup bearing that name, presented it to Mr. W. R. Bowring, captain of the Shandon Golf Club, the winner. Both speakers made reference to the sporting attributes evidenced in the friendly competition for these cups throughout the season. The Watt Cup Committee responsible for the dance were: Messrs. D. Crombie and O. Stone (Titahi Bay Club), W. T. Page (Paokakariki), Mehaffey and Butler (Manor Park), Cook (Waiwefru), and M. R. Bowring (Shandon). Messrs. J. L. Barnard (Manor Park) and J. W. Fergte (Shandon) were joint hon. secretaries, and Mr. C. Stone (Titahi) acted as M.C.
Among those present were Mr. G. H. A. Swan and Mrs. Swan (Shandon club), Mr. H. H. Moore and Airs. Afoore (lady captain, Titahi), Air. Smith (president, Paekakariki) and Airs. Smith, Mr. E. W. Brockett (club captain, Alanor Park), Mr. S. Brice (president. Titahi), Mr. D. C. Crombie (captain, Titahi), Air. D. Cook (president, Waiwetu) and Airs. Cook, Air. Brian Barker (captain, Waiwetu), Air. N. Maitland (secretary, Waiwetu) and Airs. Alaitland, Miss K. Pownall (lady captain, Shandon Week-end Club). Others present were Mrs. Alwood (gold brocade), Air. and Airs. J. Fergie (the latter wearing flame chiffon), Mr. and Airs. C. Stone (black satin with touches of primrose), Air. and Mrs. J. D. Barnard (eggshell-blue elephant crepe), Mr. and Airs. J. Hungerford (black and white chenille velvet). Mr. and Mrs. Alonk (black satin), Air. and Airs. J. Howitt (pink satin). Mr. and Mrs. Hanley (black marietta), Air. and Mrs. G. Munro (wine-red lace). Air. and Mrs. O. G. Radford (sprigged taffetas), Airs. A. G. Williams (black organdie), Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McKay (black maroeain), Mr. and Airs. Aloxted (black satin and ermine), Mr. aniTMrs. S. Crichton, Mr. and Airs. H. Dodson (midnight blue elephant crepe), Mr. and Airs. D.
