SPEEDWAY RACING
Individual Contest
London, October 10.
H. Stevenson, of West Ham, defeated Ron Johnson, Australia, in two match races at West Ham and won the British individual speedway championship. There were 80,000 people at the contest. W. Kilmister, of Wellington (New Zealand), was a contender for the title earlier in the season, but, after an exceptional run of success, he was defeated by Johnson. Kilmister subsequently had a collarbone broken, and was out of action for some time. However, he was again in winning form for Wembley after recovering from his Injury, and scored four wins for his team in the “Evening News” Speedway Cup contest with Wimbledon a few weeks ago.
