The cafeteria and hostel had been used by a larger number than ever before, also the sports facilities had been taken advantage of more freely. Their thanks were due to Mr. and Mrs. B. Sutherland for allowing them the use of their house and garden, “Homewood,” for the garden fete, which brought such good results, and to the organisers of the antique exhibition. They regretted the loss of Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Pope from their executive after their long years of service The statement of income and expenditure showed a total income of £2728 15/-. Of this amount special efforts brought In £B9O/17/-. Donations atid subscriptions totalled £294/12/-, and a profit of £299/10/- was Shown on the residential portion of the association s work. The year's activities were shown on an original sketch' by girl members, who had arranged a most ingenious method of floral illustration. There were rows of huge blue tubs on the stage, where a gaily-painted back panel suggested a trim Dutch garden. In the garden was a dainty girl in an old-world dress of blue satin, with a poke bonnet and a red watering can, and as she sprinkled each tub, the plant it contained grew into a Y.W.0.4. member, who displayed a poster on which was printed the name of a special activity of the year, while she recited a little vepse of explanation. Hostels, cafeteria, unemployment, membership, camps, inquiry office, St. John’s Nursing Division, Triangle Players, gardening casts, Business Girls, Lyceum, and Round Table Clubs, were some of the titles of them.
Jdfss Bridgeman made interesting comments on the work thus illustrated, and spoke of the underlying purpose of the activity. Mr, Morpeth, who spoke on the bal-ance-sheet, said he thought on the whole they had cause to congratulate themselves that it was not worse. Like many other folk they had been compelled to live on their capital, but things were considerably brighter than they had been for several years past, and there was every reasonable pros, pect of a glow recovery, when things had righted themselves the Y.W.C.A. would receive more aid aqd more support. Mrs. M. H. Pearson, acting honorary treasurer, proposed a general vote of thanks. After a display of physical culture by the gymnasium girls, and- a song by g[rl citizens, the meeting wasbrought to a close with the serving of supper.
