SMOKE CONCERT

Commercial Travellers TOAST LIST HONOURED To celebrate the twentieth birthday of the Wellington Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association, known as “Association Day,” a smoke concert was held by the members in the Dominion Farmers’ Institute last night. There was a very large gathering present, including his Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, the Acting-Prime Minister, the Jit. Hon. J. G. Coates, and the Mayor, Mr. T, C. A. Hislop. A number of toasts were honoured and a musical programme greatly enjoyed. The toast list was as follows “His Majesty the King,” proposed by his Excellency the GovernorGeneral. “His Excellency the GovernorGeneral and Lady Bledisloe,” proposed by the president, Mr. G. D. Little, and responded to by Lord Bledisloe. “The Dav We Celebrate,” proposed by the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, response by Mr. Little. “The Visitors,” Mr. W. Smith, responses by Mr. T. C. A. Hislop and Dr. E. Marsden. “The Man On the Road,” Mr. W. Hustler Smith; response by Mr. T. B. Fox. , Selections were played by Allen’s Orchestra, while songs were given by Mr. Sam Duncan and Mr. Ernest Short, recitations by Mr. Barton Ginger, and an Imitation act by Mr. Will Vermont. The accompanist was Mr. Frank Thomas.
