CARILLON RECITAL
Anniversary of the Somme The anniversary of New Zealand’s entry in the first Battle of the Somme, 1916, will be commemorated by a recital on the War Memorial Carillon to-day. Miss Gladys Watkins will render the following items, the recital beginning at 4 p.m.Westminster chimes; “The Bluebells of Scotland”; “Shenandoah” (a sea shanty) ; “Come, Lassies and Lads” (English, 17th century) ; “Oh, My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose” (Scotch); “Killarney”; “Over the Sea to Skye” (Highland rowing song) ; “E Pari Ra” (Maori Song of Parting) ; N.Z. Division bell, “The Somme” (sounded eight times); National Anthem.
