Hundred-mile Journey TE AWAMUTU ARREST By Telegraph.—Press Association. Te Awiwnutu, September 14. When the Limited express reached Te Awamutu at 10 o’clock last night the police arrested Andrew McPherson, a middle-aged man who had travelled from Auckland, lying on" the top of a carriage. In the local court, he was charged with being Idle ami disorderly. McPherson said he wanted to return to Taumarunui, where be. hoped to secure work, and, having no money for the fare, he climbed to the top of .a carriage and travelled 100 miles in the cold night air. He offered to walk the other 75 miles to Taumarnmui if he was not sent to gaol. He was convicted and ordcxed to come up for sentence if called upon.
