Women’s Golf Tourney MIXED FOURSOMES Miss Kay and Ferrier Win By Telegraph.—Press Assn,—Copyright. (Received September 3, 7 p.m.). Melbourne, September 3. The mixed foursome golf championship was played to-day at the Victoria links. Rain fell in the morning, making the course heavy. Miss Oliver Kay and Jim Ferrier, the brilliant eighteen-year-old Sydney star, won, their performance including a record round for mixed foursome of 74, which is five strokes better than that of Harry Williams and Miss Kerrigan last year. Miss Kay drove delightfully, and Ferrier’s play was faultless. Misses MacLeod, Tolhurst, and Hammond, and Mesdames Templet and Williams scratched owing to indisposition. The scores are:— J. Williams (New Zealand) Concurrently with the foursome championship a handicap was played on the first eighteen holes, which was won by Ross Sawers and Miss J. Williams (New Zealand), 76 (handicap 6). Miss Williams is a promising player who will improve with experience* The notable Sydney pair, C. H. and Mrs. Fawcett, were runners-up, returning 78 (handicap 7). Miss Gaisford played her usual talented game in the mixed championship.
