Elisabeth talks with fairy folk When the west wind blows, > And fairy secrets centuries old Elisabeth knows. Cold iron she never flings on the grass Where the fairies tread. She says that a fairy who touches it Falls dead, t And the magic trees, ash and thorn, She never tears down;
She says that they shelter a secret wet! To fairytown. And the' little green rings tn the morning grass She never breaks through; She says you will ruin a fairy spell If you do. Elisabeth's eyes are a deep, deep blue Like a Summer’s sky. And gold is Elisabeth’s hair, so perhaps That is why -■ She always talks with fairy folk When the west wind blows.
