APOLLO SINGERS
The second concert of the season of the\Wellington Apollo Singers’ Society will be given on Thursday next in the Town Hall, Concert Chamber, under the conductorship of Mr, H. Temple White. In addition to part-songs and choriises, a feature of the programme will be the presentation of Felicien David’s symphonic ode. “The Desert," in which number the Apollos will be assisted by the 2YA Concert Orchestra, special permission having been granted by the New Zealand Broadcasting Board for this orchestra to augment the singers on this occasion. The soloists and quartet to be heard in this cantata have been carefully chosen from among the members pf the choif. In the first portion of the programme the singers will render some unaccompanied numbers, also- choruses accompanied by the 2YA Concert Orchestra. In addition, the orchestra will be heard in several pieces, being under the baton of Mr. Leon de Mauny. A very fine evening’s entertainment is assured •• to? patrons, and the opportunity of being able to see, as well as hear, the 2YA orchestra of over twenty players, should not be missed. The accompanists will be Madame Evelyn de Mauny and Mr. Wm. Billington. The box plan will open at the Bristol Piano Company on Monday morning next, and intending patrons of this concert are urged to make'early reservation of their seats.
