Sir. —I noticed in Monday’s “Dominion’’ an account of an interview given by a Japanese Minister to the American Press, It would seem from this that it is high time to cease setting an example in the direction of reduction of armaments. Can you, sir. or can any of your readers. inform hie why submarines are not numbered among the naval defences of New Zealand? Is it simply that Great Britain has been endeavouring to get submarines abolished, or is it considered by those competent to judge that they would be of no use in defending this country?—l am. etc., INTERESTED.
