The virtual finals of both the first and second divisions of the Wellington senior Rugby competition will be played at Athletic Park to-day. In the early game Poneke and University will contest what practically amounts to the second division final. University /have recorded some big wins this season, and will be favourites for to-day’s game, but Poneke, since their promotion from the senior B grade, have played very consistently and held their place at the head ot the competition. There should be little in .it whichever way the result goes. The principal game between Wellington College Old Bovs and Poneke will decide whether Old Boys win the title outright or Poneke’s life is extended. Both teams have shown good form throughout the season, and a close and interesting game is promised.. Poneke’s championship chances are rather forlorn, but Old Boys are all out to make to-day’s game the deciding one. and avenge their narrow defeat' by Poneke in the first round. At Newtown Park Wellington will play Marist and Wellington and Auckland Technical Colleges will provide the curtain-raiser.
