A delightful twenty-first birthday party was given by Mr. and Mrs. V. E. A. Churchouse in. honour of their youngest daughter, Vida, at their residence, 8 Woburn Road, Northland, last Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Churchouse received the guests, the hostess wearing a blue lace frock with blue bridge coat to tone.
Miss Vida Churchouse was in a frock of pink organdie, with a blue velvet cape trimmed with white fur. Some 50 guests were present and entered wholeheartedly into a well-ar-ranged programme of gainer Mr. R. A. Hollands at the piano played several numbers for the dancing, which was hold in the streamer-draped drawingroom. Tables were set side for bridge. Autumn-tinted leaves, chrysanthemums and jonquils filled the many vases in the supper rooms. A decorated birthday cake surmounted by a large gilded kewpie surrounded by 21 small kewples held the place of honour at the family table. The toast of the guest of honour was given by Mr. S. Geary, who took the opportunity of announcing the engagement of Miss Churchouse to Mr. Allan Hawke.
Both Miss Churchouse and her
fiance were the recipients of a host of congratulations. Included among the guests were Mrs. A. M. Hawke, Mrs. J. W. Matthews, Mrs. 11. Churchouse (Carterton), Mrs. Polson, Mrs. A. Mrs. T. C. Newton was hostess at a happy party iu the D. 1.0. tea rooms recently, given for Miss Betty Blamires, on the occasion of her twentyfirst birthday. There were bunches of long-stemmed violets on the table, and in the centre a delectable cake was ornamented with a golden key. The guest of honour was the recipient of several lovely bouquets, among them one from her parents, the Rev. E. O. and Mrs. Blamires, of Feilding, who were .unable to be present.
Among the guests were: —Lady Buckleton, Mesdames de Mauny, Amy Woodward, McDiarmid, Hume, Roberts, Miss V. Blamires, Messrs. Leon de Mauny and Ernest Dawson.
