ATTEMPT ON SAFE
Gelignite Not Exploded
During the week-end an attempt was made to rifle the safe at the wood and coal yard of the C. and A. Odlin Timber and Hardware Co., Ltd., at Railway Avenue, Lower Hutt. \ Apparently the burglars were disturbed, as the keyhole of the safe was found plugged with gelignite and covered with soap, but no explosion had taken place. “Had the intruders succeeded in opening the safe, they would have made a very disappointing haul, as the company leaves only office books and. records in the safes at its various branches,” said Mr. C. C. Odlin, the managing director, yesterday.
