From “The Dominion,” June 10, 1908. In a £5OO match on the Brooklands course, Nazzaro, aboard a 90 horse-power Fiat car, covered 20J miles at the rate of 94J miles an hour. During 2i miles he attained a speed of 120 miles an hour. « * « The photograph of the late Rt. Hon. R. J. Seddon, with a pretty wreath, in a window of a small shop on Lambton Quay last evening was one of the reminders in the city that to-day is the seeoud anniversary of the death of the late Premier, which occurred on the steamer Oswestry Grange on June 10. 1906, while on the way to New Zealand from Australia. * *

The Admiralty has decided that ether photographs will render carrier pigeons unnecessary. The “Standard” states that the Admiralty by selling the birds will effect an economy of only £4OO a year. On the other hand, pigeons will still be needed on picket boats used for watching hostile harbours in time of war. German agents have been instructed to buy the pigeons regardless of cost. The birds can be bred to home from any direction. » ♦ »

Organ music is an acquired taste, and thanks to Mr. Maughan Barnett, the most cultured and enthusiastic exponent of that class of music in Wellington, the public is week by week demonstrating an improving palate. There was quite a good audience present at the Town Hall last evening, despite the unfavourable weather, and they were more than ordinarily appreciative.
