China and Japan Clearing War Atmosphere SYMPATHY BY PLANE (Received June 9, 10.30 p.m.) Peking, June 9. "While it will probably take some time to liquidate the military situation, s genuine effort to carry the Tangku armistice into effect appears to be under way, A noticeable instance of the improved feeling was the arrival in Peking of a Japanese aeroplane carrying an officer detailed by the Japanese Army to offer condolences over the Chinese loss of life In the recent hostilities. Meanwhile foreign dispatches report that Japanese troops have begun with drawing northward from Chinwangtao. On the Chinese side rapid progress is reported in the work of winding up the war-time organisations and in transferring troops back to the provinces.
