Ministerial. The Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister of Lands, will leave this morning to Dannevirke, where he will spend the week-end. Mr. Ransom is expected to return to Wellington on Tuesday afternoon. The Hon. J. G. Cobbe. Minister of Defence, returned to Wellington from the south by the ferry steamer yesterday morning. Mr. S. G. Smith. M.P., for New Plymouth, is visiting Wellington. Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, will return to Auckland to-day. Squadron-Leader T. M. Wilkes, Director of Air Services, returned yesterday morning from the south. .Mr. Walter W. Hoffman has been empowered to act as Vice-Consul of the United States of America in Wellington. . The Rev. J. Jolly, Dunedin, was among the passengers who arrived in Wellington yesterday morning from the south.

Major-General W. L. H. Sinclair-Bur-gess. general officer commanding the New Zealand military forces, returned to Wellington from the South Island yesterday Mr. Leonard G. Sweeney, who is taking over the management of the Col-gate-Palmolive Peet Co., Ltd., in New Zealand, will arrive by the Makura from Sydney on Monday morning. Mr. S. W. M. Stilling, New Zealand representative of the Australian National Travel Association, is a passenger on the Makura. which will arrive in Wellington from Sydney on Monday. Mr. Stilling was n member of the Australian trade delegation which recently visited the Dutch East Indies in the trade ship Nieuw Holland.
