WEDDINGS
Bain—Ashmore St. James’s Church, Wanganui East, was the scene of a very popular wedding on Thursday evening, when Miss Ida Dorinda Ashmore was married to Mr. Marshall J. K. Bain. Miss Ashmore is the second daughter of Mr and Mrs. J. L. Ashmore, “Corries,” Wanganui East, and Mr. Bain the elder son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bain, of Wanganui. Pipe-Major Thomson and several pipers played the wedding party to and from the church, and both the bridegroom and the best man wore kilts. The bride wore a gown of lido blue marocain, and hat to match, and carried a silver horseshoe, the gift of Miss Margaret Thomson, and a bouquet of Iceland poppies, maidenhair fern, and heather. Her sister. Miss Stella Ashmore, acted as bridesmaid, wearing henna satin beaute. and touring hat. and carrying a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. Both bouquets were the gift of Mrs. Fitzgerald, Wanganui East. The Rev. G. S. King officiated, and Mr. W. McKee, of Brunswick, supported the bridegroom. After the wedding a reception was held at All Saints’ Hall, which, like the church, had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. Mrs. Ashmore received her guests wearing bronze chenille velvet. Mrs. -1. McEwan, sistei of the bride, wore blue and white georgette, and bridge coat to tone. A dance was held after the wedding reception.
