RE-GRADING AWA ROAD

Progress on Relief Job Considerable progress is being made with the widening and regrading of Awa Road. Worser Bay. by relief labour. This is the only reasonably safe road over the hills between Miramar aud the bays. Overton Road, which descends tbo hill into Karakn Bay, is considered too narrow and dangerous for motor-car traffic. Awa Road had a rather steep pinch, aud a. very sharp bend on its way down to the beach. What is being done is to make the grade even, widen the road at the corners, and take the danger out of the bend. Awa Road is tiie old road to the pilot station of the ’so’s at Worser Bay, and the only road access to Worser Bay and Seatoun before the construction of the Seatoun tunnel.
