WORLD CONFERENCE
France and Tariff Truce Washington, May 2. The French Ambassador (M. Laboulaye) informed at Under-Secretary (Mr. Phillips) at the .State Department on Tuesday that France would agree to a tariff truce preliminary to the World Economic Conference provided it contained a clause permitting tariff changes in case of the depreciation of the pound or the United States dollar.
