Late Sir Alexander Gray A tribute to the interest which the late Sir Alexander Gray took in soldiers during and after the war was paid by the president of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association, Colonel A. Cowles, at the meeting of the executive last evening. Colonel Cowles said that Sir Alexander Gray had taken a very active interest in the Returned Soldiers’ Club, and his untiring work in the interests of returning men had been an inspiration to all who had been associated with him. In this unselfish and noble work Lady Gray had given unremitting assistance. Both Sir Alexander and Lady Gray had continued their work for returned soldiers. Last Poppy Day Lady Gray took an active and successful part in selling poppies, and the last appearance of Sir Alexander Gray in public life was his attendance at the next-of-kin service at the Town Hall on Anzac Day. On the motion of the president, the following resolution was carried, members standing: “That this executive of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association records its grateful appreciation of tho unselfish assistance and the wise guidance of its late hon. member, Sir Alexander Gray, K.C., and its sincere sympathy with Lady Gray and her family in the loss they have sustained.” It was decided to forward a copy of the resolution to Lady Gray.
