SEASON CLOSED
Newtown Croquet Club The Newtown Croquet Club closed its playing season last week. There was a good attendance of members for the function, which was presided over by the President, Miss Petersen. A series of competitions was arranged and keenly contested. At the tea adjournment the President presented the prizes won during the season as follows: B. Ladder, Underwood Cup, Mrs. Press; runner-up, Miss Petersen. C. Ladder, Miss Adams ; runner-up, Mrs. Vine. Underwood Brooch, Mrs. Meek; Martin Memorial Cup, Mrs. Henderson; Remington Cup, Miss Petersen; Newton and Back’s trophy (for the most improved player in C grade). Miss Adams. Hour games, B grade, Mrs. L’Estrange (points); Mrs. Stephensen (breaks); 0 grade, Mrs. Vine. Progressive: B grade, Mrs. Stephenson; C grade, Mrs. Vine. Mrs. Stephenson, on behalf of the Club members, presented Miss Petersen with a suitable gift, and gifts were also presented to the club captain, Mrs. Press, and deputy captain, Mrs. Meek. The green keeper was also presented with a token of appreciation. The afternoon competitions (for trophies donated by club members) were won as follows: Angles: Mrs. Press; ladder, Mrs. M. Smith; numbers, Mrs. Fabian; to and fro, Mrs. Vine; French, Miss Adams; golf, Miss Petersen; hurry scurry, Mrs. Stephenson and Mrs. Henderson.
