New Zealander in London MISS MARIE NEY’S WORK Wellington has produced in Alisa Alarie Ney, an actress who seems to be destined to the very highest honours in English drama. Miss Ney goes from strength to strength. Her latest triumph, in which the “Daily Telegraph,” of London, hails her as "a. brilliant actress,” is in a play entitled "The Lake,” by Aliss Dorothy Alassingham and Air. Murray Macdonald. Of this play, which is of the serious problem order, the “Telegraph” says:

"No other piece presented on the London stage at this moment covers with such a convincing network of character, humour, and human suffering, the actual drama of existence. The piece has a sincerity, a sympathy, and a strength that lift it into the first class/’ Of Aliss Ney’s performance the same paper says: "Tlie play offers very special chances for the leading actress, which are gripped firmly with both bands by that admirable and ever-im-proving actress. It is a tragedy of womanhood —tlie revelation of a woman's soul struggles, the whole unhappy tale informed with irony ami a sardonic commentary so just that it never disturbs our sympathy with the central character. Tudor Boddam. late of Oriental Bay. who saw Aliss Ney’s performance in London, writes that even knowing Marie as she does, she was thrilled by her splendid delineation of a most difficult role in an exceptional play.
