Rowe, works superintend ent of John Sands, Ltd.. Sydney, is a through passenger on the Maunganui, which arrived yesterday from San Francisco. Mr. Rowe has been on >1 business trip to California.

Sergeant-Major J. S. King has taken up the position of instructor at the General Headquarters small arms school at Trentham. having been promoted from the New Plymouth staff of the Defence Department. Premier and Prince Consort of Tonga. arrived from Sydney by the mail steamer Niagara at Auckland yesterday, am! will spend several days in Auckland. II<! has been absent from Tonga for several months. After spending Christmas and New Year in New Zealand, he left for Australia, where he spent two months. On April 21 his sister-in-law. Princess Fusila Bala, of Tonga, died in Sydney. Her body was embalmed and was brought across by the Niagara, on route to Tonga.
