Steel Helmets’ Support FULL GRIP ON GERMANY Berlin, April 28. The fusion of the Nazis and the Steel Helmets virtually completes Herr Hitler’s grip on Germany. Herr Seldte, commandant of the Steel Helmets, in announcing the decision to join the Nazis yesterday, said he regarded Herr Hitler, the Chancellor and leader of the Nazis, not only as a leader of a Nationalist revolution, but as the leader of Germany’s future. The Steel Helmets must give him their hearts’ confidence. There were no longer any difficulties, only oue great unity. Herr Hitler has appointed Herr Rudolf Hess, a Nazi member of the Reichstag, as his deputy in his leadership of the party organisation. The possibility of an agreement between the Nazis and the Nationalists is indicated in an arrangement whereby Herr Hugenberg retains the position of Minister of Commerce in the Prussian Government, but will not be a member of the Cabinet. “OGPU” FOR GERMANY Extensive Raid in Berlin Berlin. April 2S. Germany has constituted an "Ugpu,’’ similar to that of Russia, separating the Prussian political police from ‘the regular force. It has been concentrated in a secret department entrusted to combating Bolshevism and subversive movements and manned with picked men dominating the ordinary police and supervising the Press. A thousand policemen and Brown Shirts raided the western Berlin area and searched hundreds of houses and all pedestrians. It is reported that they discovered many weapons and compromising documents.
