Britain’s Naval Supremacy (From “The Doniinion,” April 29. 1998.1 Lord Esher, in an on British naval supremacy in the "National Review,” urges the avoidance of a paper programme. He thinks it would be best to let Britain build two ships of equal strength for every one thnt Germany builds.
The Prince of Wales, accompanied by the Princess, will open the Franco-Brit-ish Exhibition on May 11. Probably King Edward, accompanied by President Fallieres. will open the fine art section on May 26. * ♦ * Two bookmakers have been summoned to appear at the Police Court on Friday to answer charges of betting with infants at Miramar on April 20. The college and hostel which has boon erected in Soujh Terrace. Kelburne in memory of Bishop Iladlield, is to be formally opened on Friday next, at 3 pan. It is hoped that all friends ol Bishop Haulfield and all who are interested in the college, which, as is well known, is designed to serve as college tor theological students, and a hostel for oilier students attending Victoria College, will attend the opening ami inspect the budding afterwards.
