Wellington Clubs’ Outings Weather conditions were ideal for the various Wellington harrier club packs on Saturday, and there was a notable improvement in the condition of. most ot the runners. I’acks are regaining members, and practically all elubs. report a maintained or larger membership. . Reports on the week-end activities arc as follow: — , Olympic Club. The Olympic harriers held their weekly run from Brooklyn on Saturday. Twentythree runners followed a four-mile course from Brooklyn to John Street, thence over Adelaide Road to the golf links, over the ridge to Happy Valley Road, and back home. A run-in over the last 500 yards resulted in G. Strong being first, R. Mountjoy second, and L. Bado third. , The colts’ run-in resulted: T. Wilson, 1; J. Bezar, 2; and I>. Sunderland, 3. While runinng from John Street the club stopped at St. James’s Presbyterian Church to form a guard of honour to one of their present members, Arthur Porter, whose marriage to Miss Harrison was being celebrated there. Brooklyn Club. The weekly run of the Brooklyn Harrier Club was held from the Methodist Cjiprch, Karori, thirty-one runners attending. The trail-layers, V. Fitzgibbon and B. Rowley, chose a fivc-mile course, which was followed by three packs under W. Tanner, A. Naulls. and Ted Davies. From the church the trail kept to the road till the summit of Makara Hill w.is reached, then turned along the main ridge behind Karori. The keen wind encountered there resulted in a fast pace being set to keep warm, and was probably the cause of the "slow” pack having to run an extra mile or two, as it missed the trail, which dropped downhill when directly behind the cemetery. Nottingham Street was next reached at the foot of the hills, then home via the main road. Runners who showed un very well on the hilly going were Id. Lee, W. Lambert, and B. Wood. ’Varsity Harriers. Fourteen members of the Victoria University Harrier Club ran from Kclburn on Saturday. From the Training College the runners, in three packs, followed the roads, and made their way to the entrance to the waterworks reserve, where fast and slow packs joined forces. Avoiding both the reserve and Fitchett’s Farm, the trail then provided some cross-country hill work, and emerged to the road again in Brooklyn. Karepa Street was followed, and then a ridge of the Town Belt led the runners into Aro Street, and so up Norway Street to Plunket Street. A handicap run-in from the viaduet resulted in a win for Scents, followed by Sheard, Oliver and Harding. After the run members were entertained by Mr. and Mrs.-G. F. Dixon, of Rimu Road, Kelburn. The club's notive race will be run at Seatoun next Saturday.

Presbyterian Club. The Presbyterian Harrier Club held its weekly run from Island Bay Church. Thirty-four runners, divided into three packs, under I. Stevenson, W. Moore, and It. D. Moore respectively, followed a Simile trail laid by C. Bae and A. Edwards. The trail Icdjrom the church down the Parade and around the coast past Happy Valley to the Run-Round. Here n turn v.as made Into the bills, and the gully followed up for .about half, a mile before climbing the ridge and going down on io Happy Valley Rond. At this point one of the runners. J. Uavidson. bad the misfortune to sprain his ankle, and had to be assisted home. The trail then Jed up the road and crossed the ridge into Island Bay, to come out above Wakefield Park. A fast run-in was held over the last 300 yards, and owing to liberal handicapping three new men were able to take the honours —A. Crawford first, K. Haswell second. and W. Cowan third. Next week’s run will be held from Wadestown, and not Khandallali. Wellington Club. At the invitation of Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien the Wellington. club held its weekly run from Kilbirnie, and about 40 members and friends were present. Twenty-five runners stripped, and were divided into three packs. The slow pack was in charge of R. Newson, tho medium under T. Mulcahy, and the fast under S. Morris. The trail was laid by J. McConchie, J. O’Brien, and C. Chalk, and led from Te Whiti Street to the Lyall Bay beach, via Kingsford Smith Street Continuing along the beach the paper Jed up the steep hill at Moa Point to the top of the ridge. A fair stretch of up and down brought Scots College in view, and Broadway was crossed per medium of Monorgan Road. At this stage the fast pack were continuing along the hills towards Seatoun, having struck the Scottish paper. . The slow and medium packs merged at Broadway, and made for home by way of Miramar Cutting, while the fast pack were still on the hill country of Seatoun Heights, which they left at the end of Miramar Avenue. No run-in. was held, and an enjoyable run was terminated with afternoon tea.
