“ACCIDENT” INSURANCE FRAUDS
Seventeen mon, including two doctors, have been charged with complicity in big insurance frauds at Lille, in Northern France. _ They are alleged to have been masters in the art of organising accidents and Io have singed 133 during the past year, sliariuy a large sum of money obtained from ten insurance companies. Some of tiie men are accused of specialising in arraiigini; street accidents. A man on n bicycle would wait at a street corner the approach of an expensive motor-ear. witli which lie would manage to collide. Accomplices would then come forward as witnesses of Ihe “accident,” which they invariably declared to have bA'ii the fault of tiie chauffeur. Ollier men employed in factories are alleged to have been given false certificates by two doctors.
