The Netherlands elections resulted iu the maintenance of the Right Coalition’s majority. Two new Communists were elected. Both ari- exiles.
Indian Town Destroyed. A small town of 500 cottages was completely destroyed by lire neat Iltipiir, on tiie banks of tiie river Ganges. ’fen people were burned to death, and 100 were injured.
Rope Factory Gulled. Damage estimated at £20.000 was causetl by a fire which gulfed A. Forsyth's rope-making factory at Brisbane, which was the only plant of its kind in Queensland. The lire also destroyed a valuable stock of hemp.
