Dairy Export Restrictions
Sir, —Throughout this discussion the attitude taken up by Mr. S. Williamson toward the above question is contained in the closing words o£ his last letter: “And London or no London, the taxes would be paid.” Accepting all his figures as now stated, will Mr. Williamson, without resorting to compliments, tell us where the people of New Zealand derived the power to pay for the £165 million odd imparts, and buy the whole of the locally-made merchandise from which the taxes were paid? —I am, etc., THOS. TOWNSEND. Dalefield, March 17.
