Poultry Amendment Bill
Sir, —We are told that the very strong protest lodged by the Chambers of Commerce was responsible for the killing of the Poultry Amendment Bill in the Upper House last Friday. Once again th 6 traders have been successful in smashing the sound organisation of poultrymen throughout this Dominion. Producers must not take the first defeat of the Bill as final. Everyone must pull together to put their “house” in order and follow up what New South Wales is doing—eliminate . the agent. Their Egg Board handles 470,000 dozen eggs each week, against the biggest egg-merchants 250.000, and all inside three years; this made possible through the registration of poultrymen.—l am, etc., R. K. McDONELL. Levin, March 13.
