Tnterclub Rowing Regatta

A number of important outdoor athletic events will be held to-day, including the harbour swim for the Peck Shield, the annual iutcr-elub rowing regatta for the Mothes Shield, and the continuation of the cricket championship competitions. The three local rowing clubs will hold the annual inter-club regatta for the Mothes Shield this afternoon. The prevailing weather suggests that the Oriental Bay course will be used, but, if northerly weather is experienced, the regatta will be rowed on the Koro Koro course, near Petone. The programme will start at 2 o’clock, and there will be eleven events. Harbour Swimming Race. The harbour swimming race for the Peck Shield will take place this afternoon, commencing at 3 o’clock. The course will be from Clyde Quay Wharf across to Taranaki Street Wharf and back to Clyde Quay Wharf. This course is to be covered three times, the, finishing point being Clyde Quay Wharf. F. W. Lefort (Wellington, club), a late entry, has been handicapped 14 minutes. Cricket Programme. The seventh series of matches in Iml Wellington Cricket Association’s senior championship competition will be finalised, and should have an important bearing upon the ultimate premiership. Wellington, who are loading with 22 points, equal with Hutt, appear to have a certain win over Institute, as they will resume to-day three runs ahead of Institute, with four wickets still in hand. Last Saturday, Institute fell for 122, to which Wellington responded with 125 for four wickets. On the other baud. Hutt, appears to be in for a defeat, as they could only total 107 last Saturday to Wellington. College Old Boys’ 130 for six wickets Petone will have to be in their best, form to reach Kilbirmc’s total of 373, as the suburban eleven has only 7 runs on without loss. , , Midland should have little difficulty m heading University’s score of 228, as they will resume to-day with.
