BARTERED FOR GOODS
French Art Exhibition Paris, Jan. 25. The most astonishing art exhibition in history closed after business valued at 2* million francs for the benefit of needy craftsmen had been done. Nothing was sold. Every picture, statue, or object of art was bartered for goods. One artist secured a motor-ear in exchange for a picture, and another several dozen bottles of chablis. A surgeon gave a free operation and a physician a year’s free attendance. The Salon des Echanges has been so successful that it will be repeated in 1934.
