STAFF OFFICERS’ LEAVE
When the application for a special date for the City Council staff picnic came before the council at yesterday’s meeting. Councillor W. Duncan asked the Mayor it the days in between Christmas and New Year holidays—that was this year, the Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday—were deducted from the annual leave of the staff officers. ine Mayor, after consulting the Town Clerk, said that such days were not deducted from the annual leave. “Well, it seems to me that things are rather unfair,” said Cr. Duncan. “Some of the men in our employ cannot get away for half an hour without losing some pay, and yet I found when I visited the Town j: Hall . between Christmas and New Year that the whole staff was away. If seems to me they are very well treated.” The staff picnic has been fixed for Monday, January 30. y
